What is this camp about?

In short, this camp is modelled after the MAGiS experiments which some of us experienced before World Youth Day 2008.

What is an experiment?

Experiments are activities that place you in unfamiliar situations and challenge you to go out of their comfort zones. The aim of an experiment is to learn how we react in different situations and so grow in awareness about our own life’s meaning and purpose.

Experiments have their background in the Ignatian Novitiate – Fr. Leslie, for example, had to walk from one place to another with a fellow novice in Australia without any money and without revealing that he was a Jesuit novice! In such situations, you discover yourself and your relationship with God more fully through the testing and reflection that is a part of the experiment.

Everyone encounters God in different ways. As such, there are 3 themes of experiments you can choose from: Creative, Service, and Pilgrimage.

Experiments to choose from:

#C1: Preserving the spiritual life through art and music (Creative)
For hundreds of years, sacred art and music have been preserved in monasteries which seem distant and out-of-reach to most. In this experiment, unravel the mysteries of sacred creativity by experiencing it yourself. Learn how music and art is used as a contemplative and prayerful tool to grow closer, and bring others to Christ. You may even get to build a labyrinth!

#S1: Food for the Soul (Service)
Hungry? Revelation 7:16 says “They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore…” Discover what it means to be fed by Christ, and to in turn feed others. This will be an experiment with an exciting surprise element.

#P1: The Other Singapore (Pilgrimage)

How well do you know the land you live in? Embark on this pilgrimage and discover places in Singapore you never knew existed. Encounter holiness, creation and love as you experience the multidimensional realities in this land we call home.

Register and choose your experiment now. Registration and choice of experiment is on a 1st come 1st serve basis. We can't promise that you'll definitely get your experiment of choice, but we promise an experience of a lifetime!
